SEPARATE
OR BLENDED?
“BUT NOW HATH GOD SET
THE MEMBERS EVERY ONE OF THEM IN THE BODY, AS IT HATH PLEASED HIM.
AND IF THEY WERE ALL ONE MEMBER, WHERE WERE THE BODY? BUT NOW ARE
THEY MANY MEMBERS, YET BUT ONE BODY.”
I Corinthians 12:18-20
We had been painting in
my son’s room and I looked down to find green paint on my hands.
The perplexing part of that fact was that the paint was brown.
So, how could I have green paint on my hands?
Brown paint is made up of various colors blended together to get one
specific shade. When the colors
sit, they separate and can be seen as distinctly independent colors.
If you stir the paint, they blend into one again.
The Body of Christ is made up of many people representing many
different backgrounds, personalities and various levels of maturity.
Without the moving of God’s Spirit to blend us into one, we are seen
as diverse individuals moving on our own.
But when the Holy Spirit directs each member, our purposes blend into
one which is the will of God.
CHALLENGE TO CHANGE:
“Do I realize that I am a part of a greater whole – the Body of
Christ?”
As we submit ourselves to the will of God in our individual lives, we are
working together with all the other members.
We all have different functions and purposes within the greater
purpose of doing the will of God.
We cannot see the whole picture, so we are not responsible for the
whole. We are responsible for
ourselves to be in submission to His purpose.
