One Tiny Light

Darkness reigned and sin mocked man;

They thought in vain to crush God’s plan.

Men were groaning in their sins -

Broken hearts no one could mend.

The captives remained captives still;

The hungry hearts were left unfilled.

Darkness laughed and sin mocked on;

“We’ve conquered righteousness with wrong!”

But one day light began to break –

A tiny flame that stirred up hate.

And yet that Light was nothing less

Than purest love – God’s Son – His best.

So, sin attacked the tiny Light,

And yet It grew to perfect height.

Darkness shrieked as he gave way.

The Light was shining bright as day.

Broken hearts were bruised no more;

Captives walked through open doors;

Hope was rising everywhere.

Sin and darkness were despaired.

They raised their hands against the Light

And were convinced they’d won the fight.

But when they thought that He was gone,

They looked in terror, and they groaned.

The Light was manifest in men,

Still strong enough to conquer sin;

Still strong enough to set them free.

So many lights!  How could this be?

The Light had died upon a cross;

They knew that He had surely lost.

But God so loved the world He made

That He gave Light – to men He gave.

He also gave the choice to men

To walk with Him or follow sin.

And Light still conquers – Light lives on!

Forever Light sits on the throne!
